Waynetown - Jesse Paul Graves, 59, widely known Montgomery County farmer died early Thursday morning at his home, fives miles northeast of Waynetown. Death was due to a heart ailment. Prominent in farm activities, Mr. Graves was president of the Rural Electrification Membership Corporation of the county and was elected recently as a director of the nation Rural Electrification Association. He would have taken his national office next February at the convention of the association scheduled to be held in Atlantic City NJ. Mr. Graves also served as president of the Farmers Cooperative Creamery in Crafordsville.
Prominent as a basketball player in his high school days, Mr. Graves was a member of the WIngate State Championship team in 1913-1914. He was the second member of the team to die, the other one having been Lee Sinclair who lived in Crawfordsville at the time of his death. Son of Martin and Permelia Mount Graves, Mr. Graves was born Aug 21, 1895 at WIngate. He was married Dec 31, 1914 to Mary Mildred McCullough of Crawfordsville. A member of the Wesley Methodist Church, Mr. Graves had been active in its work and had been teacher of the adult class of the Sunday school.
Mr. Graves is survived by his widow; three daughters, Mrs. Maxine FUller of Chalmers; Mrs. Helen Alfrey at Attica and Mrs. Virginia Edwards of Waynetown.
